[SOLVED] Team MS30 or Team MP33?

I'm looking to build a budget PC, and looking to cut costs wherever I can without sacrificing (much) performance. The MP33 costs $33 and is a 256 GB M.2. The MS50 costs $50 and is a 512GB M.2. Is there any performance based reason to go for the MS50 over the MP33, or are they the same performance, with different storage capabilities?
(I already plan to have a hard drive also so I don't need more space necessarily, I really just want to know about performance)

Solution
i would not go down to 120 gb . even for just windows, that is just too little space. barely enough room for windows and a single new game if it fits at all. 256 is pushing it and as low as i'd go.

but as far as speed goes you'll lose very little overall with a sata ssd. you probably get a better quality drive for the same money that way. WD blue or crucial mx500 and so on are about the same money and are much better than the team drives. it's not the fancy nvme but an ssd is pretty small and won't take up much space anyway. for that matter the 500 gb wd blue sn550 is sitting at about $50 right now and are a much better drive.

Ok, but won't that be slower? How much slower? And could I install an NVME M.2 later?

no problem.

i know it's hard to imagine but as that video shows, a sata ssd is almost as fast real world. especially if budget is an issue, you can get better quality in an ssd than an ultra cheap m.2 drive.

for now grab a better ssd and then when more money is available, move to a quality m.2 drive.

Also, what's the difference between a WD blue and WD green, and a crucial mx500 and bx500?
I also see that the 500gb WD blue has the ssd and the m.2 variant, and they are both the same price. Is is still more worth it to get the ssd?

the wd blue ssd or m.2 if i recall right are about the same performance. they are both sata drives. the blue sn550 is the pcie version of the drive which is a little bit better though not by a lot.

the sn550 has been only a couple bucks more than the sata version and is worth that much more. but any more than about $5 more and i'd not bother. right now all 3 of the wd blue drives are the same price at 500 gb. so obviously the sn550 is the best choice of them for the same money.

I would go with a 2.5" SATA, and leave the M.2 port(s) for later.
