now i use 2x8 and run xmp , memory speed was 3200 ,
i intend to upgrade it to 4x8 did it still support xmp ?
im using ryzen 5 3600 with b450 tomahawk max right now
 
You could but a 4x8GB kit that is on your motherboard's memory QVL if you really want/need to get more RAM. You may still may find that have to run the memory at slower speeds or bump of the voltage of the RAM or memory controller. The better option would be to get a 2x16GB kit that is supported by your motherboard.

For performance, it is always best to run on the least amount of physical RAM sticks needed as long as you are equaling the number of RAM channels your motherboard has - two for dual channel, three for triple channel, four for quad channel.
