Hi,
> Is anyone else annoyed at the lack of team work online?
Heheh. Sometimes... But most of the time, I just consider it a
challenge to try and win the game with a "weak" team.
> I have had my own teamates follow me around and shoot at me the whole time.
> Even go as far as invent ways to kill their own teamsates.
I haven't found that very common.
> Then you have the guys that will not wait for you with the Hellbender or

Yeah, that happens *all* the time. I think that there are a couple of
factors that contribute to this ...
1) the bots don't "share" -- so, when new players first begin learning
the game (say, by playing against the computer), they quickly learn that
they have to *rush* to the vehicles and grab them before the bots do.
In other words, I think that the bots' behaviours emphasize poor team
play from the get-go.
2) there's a fine line between waiting too long for the extra person to
hop in (or on) your vehicle, and then rushing to the next node. It's
really tough to judge, and tends to depend on how your team is doing, as
well as how good the other players are. (Personally, if people aren't
sufficiently close to jump in or on my vehicle, I don't have a lot of
tolerance to wait for them.)
Here's my biggest beef with teamwork:
I often like playing defense in Onslaught, positioning tanks and so
forth to best defend the cinch points. Using the tank at the middle
power node on Primeval, for example, is a great way to retain dominance
on that map, while the faster vehicles (e.g., Manta) can go in for the
kill. However, I can't count the number of times that I've seen some
people hog the tank by driving it right into the enemy base, where it is
quickly destroyed by turrets, mines, etc., and later costing us the
cinch point.
In other words, it seems to me that the biggest detriment to teamwork in
Onslaught is that it is difficult for players to assume an efficient
allocation of offensive and defensive roles.... Most of the time,
players are too busy attacking other nodes and not defending the cinch
points. (That's why I believe that teams composed of clan players can
generally out-perform haphazardly-arranged teams -- because they have
pre-assigned offensive and defensive roles prior to the start of the
match.)
