Teamviewer has duplicate IDs

I bought a new computer for a family member and I'm using teamviewer to move files between their old PC and the new one as I am in another country.

I had them download the quick support teamviewer app and read me the IDs and passwords.

The problem is that the IDs are the same only with different passwords. The first password didn't work, but the second did. When I try to add both to my PC list it says that the PC is already added.

I tried to Google an answer, but the only thing I could find for duplicate IDs comes from cloning. The old PC is several years old and the new one is refurbished from Newegg.

If the ID is generated from hardware characteristics then how do both PCs have the same ID? I would try the ID resetting fix, but explaining to delete registry keys is a bit out of the question.

You could probably also just use remote desktop/remote assitance to do it without using teamviewer to manually delete the registry keys.
