So Hi all, I just moved to a city so I went from DSL to Cable so 30mps internet to 300 and because of expenses I bought yet another xbox ONE (yeah I'm out dated) for more game pass action. So what does this all mean?

I stepped away from console gaming for years so yes Xbox One and Ps4 (Also have) are slightly outdated but with Xbox's game pass and the amount of Xbox One and 360 games on there it was a no brainer, and with this 300mps internet connection I couldnt be more happier (100gb in an hour, insane for me!)

I'm checking out Doom (2015) and Halo Guardians (which was 100GB) and with my old connection I couldnt get the update to play it without losing my mind.

Lastly the move is going to be good for me. Its a new chapter in life and gives me time to just break up things and focus on the technology I've so closely followed for years.

I can go up to 1 gig internet which I may in a year but for now this is enough. Hope it was ok that I posted an update. Take care all!

Hey there,

Yes, the difference is night and day :) Similarly went from standard Fibre (90mb/20mb) to Direct to home (500mb/50mb) Everything downloads that much quicker. Every time I download a file, I laugh at how fast it is.

Has made a difference for me too in online games. I mainly play FPS shooters, but now loading times are a fraction of what they were, and there's no stutter caused by the server, or slower speeds.

I'm glad your experience is positive. Good luck and happy gaming :)

So life has changed a lot since my last posting - at least in some ways.

Tech stuff! But first, I'm enjoying this small city I moved to, and the rather fast, for me internet.

I"ve been saving my money and putting out goals for the past 4 years! Well its paying - off. Firstly I get out of complete credit card debt this year, with that and my semi fast connection I'm updating to a Xbox Series X and Ps5. I'm rather excited. I don't actually care about 4k gaming so much as either near 4k at 60fps, or Full HD at 120 fps. That said I only have a 60hz panel TV (2 actually) atm. Anyway in 2025 will be when I start saving toward a hopefully bigger display, and most importantly a better 120hz display.

Then on a personal note, while my health mentally, has declined, well to cope better my plan this year is to get a cat. I've been a cat lover my entire life, back in 2005 I got my first, she passed in 2020 from cancer but when I moved my parents soon got one, who I kinda consider my own when I can, lol. Yea - outside of those two cats I was around others my entire youth.

Lastly I finally - after posting here quite a lot about it, got a dedicated 4k blu ray player, since, even though my internet can handle 4k streaming for movie/tv, I still enjoy the experience of collecting physical media. I"m way near or over 1k titles on DvD, Blu Ray, and a few 4k titles.

THanks for reading. =)

Hey there,

Glad things are working out for you from a gaming perspective. I hope that you enjoy all the plethora of games you can play at high res :)

I'm sorry to hear that you feel your mental health is declining. Life can be rough sometimes and stresses turn into thoughts, and thoughts into anxiety. Keep your positivity at the forefront of your mind, and along with your new cat, there can be happier times ahead. Pets are particularly good for good mental health. Petting them is very therapeutic, as is the daily caring for them can give reason to think positively, and create positive routines.

I wish you luck for the year ahead.

Cheers

Thanks for the kind words. By the way in your signature is that your set up? I assume, obviously. I'm curious as to how you like it? I'm also, btw interested in a good gaming desktop.

While discussing mental health....

I will say that since all the covid shut in stuff it tended to make me more anxious about being around a lot of people when in a closed and particularly tightly packed location. In a way I would say that it modified my desire to go anywhere the way we did before.

IDK if you feel the same way, but perhaps try to get out and explore. Walking is really good for making a person feel better.

You're more than welcome! You're not alone out there.

Yes, this is my current gaming rig. I got It in mid 2021 when there was a crazy GPU shortage. I went for a custom build. But, in the original build I chose a RTX2060 Super. Whilst waiting for the build, I saw how much better the 3060ti was than the 2060 Super. So, I went back to the order, and added a 3060ti instead of the 2060 Super. Then when it was finished calculating, I got the 3060ti for only €17 extra! 🤣 🤣 I couldn't believe my luck. An it's pumping out the FPS since. I play mainly FPS (First person Shooter) and flying/driving sims/aracade type racers, like GRID Legends, F1, BF2042, COD. The system surely isn't the fastest, but at 1440p, it games exactly how I would like. High to Ultra settings, and above 100-120fps. G-sync helps bigtime.

Well said.

I know exactly that feeling, and still even now have a tendency to stray away from places where it could get to a lot of people. I have not returned to the cinema for example, but will go to a restaurant as long as it's some place I can feel comfortable. Covid has really moved the goal posts. Even how we greet each other seems different.

100% agree about walking and fresh air, it's a natural way to keep grounded and release positive feelings. Again, well said.

We were on vaca with some friends last year down in Jax. On our way out of town and back home we typically like to stop at a Waffle House (national greasy spoon) for some breakfast. There was a waiting line in the lobby and around the door and I noped my way right away from that. IDK, I just feel a fear now that I never experienced before. Even at the grocery store I tend to stay well back away from the shopper in front of me and tend to "take space" with my body (language) to keep the people behind me from crowding in.

One of our local eateries caters to a lot of old folks. The area I live in has a lot of older airline retirees and such. They moved their business model to reservation only and took out half their seating and tables such that there is a solid 6 or so foot space between folks. Surprisingly, rather than hurt business, they stay busy from open to close every day of the week unless the weather is bad. You know granny isn't about to have her hairdo get wet!

Totally agree. The closeness of some in the queue can almost feel invasive. If I can hear them breath, then they are too close, if that makes sense.

Have been using mindfulness and 'Tapping' as a resource to help with little anxieties. It does help, but still, my mindset has changed a lot. May take time to un-covid my brain!! lol.

Well, I've prob brought this thread a little off topic, but it was worthwhile nonetheless. Take care folks, till next time 😊

WoW nice, my nicest PC is a GF 65 Thin 95S MSI Laptop.

Has only a 1660TI graphics card - I did get upgraded to 16gb of memory at least. Plays what I need though.

Figured I'd post here rather then making a new post, since it shares whats "going on". :)

So I'm planning this fall to make as cheap as possible, a gaming room which oddly for me will be my living room. I've already gotten my bed room into more of a film/movie style that I wanted (thought to be fair its x-files themed and while it had 2 films its known as a TV show , hehe)

That said I'm looking at buying consoles that are cheap, maybe even broken to put on display and beside them have my favorite game(S). Example. I'm an Xbox fan, but no exclusive wise. So I thought about getting 2 360's (I do, have 2, but I use them) and beside each have the official controller on display, The Witcher 2, and an unknown game beside the other, that I haven't picked out yet. Then have a Ps3, a game,etc...and the Xbox One Fat - with The Witcher 3 collectors edition beside it.

This for me is a neat little project because I'm actually not very hardcore at all with gaming, I just find its appeal of a select few to be a fun project, and something to do as a disabled person. Lastly I'm wanting to find a semi old to very old PC that is an Alienware, and beside it put my World of Warcraft collectors editions that I got many years ago, and the original game in its box. :)

Any tips would help. Like what kind of shelf would be good for this? I need something cheap, but looks good. Your opinion matters! Thanks all!
