Any thoughts on how I would determine if the cause of the problem is the CPU or MOBO? I have already tried a new HD, and I also tested out the two RAM sticks. I ran both sticks individually to see if one of them was the culprit, but the problem did not go away.

The PC boots into windows, I log on, and then shortly after that it slows down and freezes up. The PC stays on, it doesn't blue screen, or go black, it's just frozen.

I have tried multiple complete re installs. It always successfully installs Windows, and even runs for a few hours, but within 24 hours the PC is freezing shortly after windows starts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the build:

2) GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

4) (now) Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Make sure the mb bios has all of it updates loaded. See if it a program or virus. Use msconfig and it the start up tab turn off everything in start up and see if the pc still locks up. Also check that there not more then one anti virus software installed. Use the f8 and boot into safe mode to see if it a program issue.
