Technically Storage: Best Way To Store/Organize Wires?

I didn't see a particularly good place to make this post, so I figured the storage category would at least get a couple laughs.

I'm getting ready to re-organize my spare cables and wires. Right now, all my wires are a tangled mess due to a recent move, but I previously had them all nicely bundled up and wire-tie'd so that they didn't turn into Medusa's head on a bad hair day.

Does anyone have any tips/tricks for organizing wires that they would like to share?

Your tips don't necessarily have to have anything to do with me personally. It doesn't even have to be on topic if you've got a great tip on how to organize other technology related things

Velcro cable ties could help, while still being relatively easy to remove.

I didn't realize that was an option. I've been using standard $3 for 30 cable ties from the hardware store, and they're annoying to cut off when I need the wire. There's a risk of damaging the wire too.
