Technology to stop a digital camera from taking a picture

Is there any technology that would prevent or distort a digital picture. For example..say you have a digital camera and I have a valuable antique and I don't want any pictures circulated but it will be on display.

Put a sign next to that "No cameras allowed or else".

You can use a filter so the item is only viewable at a certain angle, with slats maybe.
