I have a Toshiba laptop,
Days ago I had to replace it's HDD under warranty as it was defective
after replacement I noticed that:
when the laptop is off and no power source attached -battery or charger-, then connect power and turn it on, the laptop start for ~5 seconds and then shutdown then restart and work normally !!
this only happen when start the device after disconnect and connect the power source
if I keep the power source connected, that issue don't happen.

Notes:
- I can hear a sound -I think from HDD- only when that issue happen
- Old HDD was HITACHI, and replaced with TOSHIBA

My question is, Is that normal?
and what should I do if not?

I called Customer support and they said that it is normal, but I don't think so, as it wasn't exists before replacing the defective HDD.

Attached a screenshot from -current- disk management [Link]

Thanks in advance!

Hey there, tenno_0!

I'd recommend you to test the drive using your HDD manufacturer's diagnostics utility and see if there's something wrong with it or not.
It will determine the health and S.M.A.R.T. status of the drive.
Unfortunately, I don't have access to Dropbox and I cannot see your link but if you could post it as a picture that would be great.
However, I don't think that the drive is responsible for the power issue with your laptop. It seems to me that this is most probably the PSU, rather than the HDD. So I'd suggest to try and change that and see if it will improve anything.

Good luck! Hope this helped! :)

Thanks SuperSoph_WD for reply,
I checked HDD Status from Toshiba installed software and it's "Good" and no problems found

I don't think I can change the PSU -I'm using a laptop-, but if you have any other way to test it, that will be great.

I'll upload the image again on another service and update the post.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, it's the sound that is concerning me the most. If it's the HDD, this indicates that there is physical damage on the drive. Since it's a new one, the best thing to do is contact your HDD tech support ask for assistance. Within the warranty period they should be able to provide you with a replacement product.

According to Disk Management and the diagnostics tool everything seems to be alright. Make a backup of the data though, just to be safe.

As for the PSU, you can take your laptop to a professional repair shop and ask them to test it.

Good luck! Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
