News Teen 'swatter for fire' pleads guilty to making more than 375 swattings and fake mass-shooting and bombing calls

He should be tried as an adult for all of his crimes. He should have a long prison sentence. He should also be financially responsible for the costs of all his bomb threats etc. I knew what I was doing at age 16. This wasn't a single event, he knew exactly what he was doing and did it over and over.

Let's also reflect on the fact that an anonymous call to the police can get you killed today.

And what that says about the police's view on violence and the principle of innocent until proven guilty.
Totally agree. Swatting is to blame and must be persecuted, but the lack of professionality of some police, and the neverending tendency to "protect the colleagues" more than the victims is a big shame.
In particular, in the Wichita case where the police officer, not only wasn't charged for killing the victim (a totally innocent young father of two childrens with in charge also the 17yo niece) without any reason, but later was also promoted to detective.

Human brains don't fully develop until 25 years of age, and it's tied to morals and decision making.
The kid is 18, they were 13-14 when covid19 threw a wrench into society. I can only imagine how depressing it must have been trying to hang out IRL with friends during said period.

That said, this dude is way beyond toxic. He should chill out in prison for at least 10yrs, without internet.

This is true as the story that the human eye have a limit to the visible frames per second.
The human brain is full of our life experince and develop on them. Also the sense of responsability depends on the life of the individual.
Giving a physiological correlation in this type of behaviour is a nonsense.

Easy!
Lock him up until he is able to meta-cognitive'd NOT be a repeat offender :)

Lock him up for the improvement of societal security, not as a indivial punishment.

Tougher punishment is not economic nor effective according to the sum of science in criminology.
Norway's repeat offenders ~20%
Maybe if the society takes responsibility for people and makes an effort to rehabilitate people; just the most dangerous people can stay in jail until it's safe to let them out!
USA's repeat offenders >80%
Three strikes and you are out together with a national dehumanizing policy is contrary to public belief not effective at motivating people to not do violent crime.

The problem has historically, and will for a long time still, been economics. Maybe jails should be government controlled instead of a private golden pig for the capitalists?

Oh please. If everyone who went through bad stuff as a kid/teen became a criminal, we would have a much, much higher number of crimes worldwide, especially violent crime; and yes, I count this as violent crime, because it fully accepts that people get hurt or killed. And there are far worse things that could happen to you than not being able to meet your friends in person. Please stop defending them, I utterly hate it when people go "oh poor baby, no wonder they turned out like this!".

That guy was rotten already, otherwise he wouldn't have committed over 300(!) crimes in only 2 years. Especially in the US, where police might shoot you in the face the second you open the door, with quite a few known cases. Btw, I'm pretty sure that bomb threats, false or not, are counted as terrorism. I really hope he gets what he deserves.
