I have found a special on a PowerColor 9700 Pro. If any of you read my post yesterday, I'm in quite a pickle about choosing my video card in the sub $300CDN range. This PowerColor card is for $279 CDN. My other options are a ATI 9600XT for $250 CDN, or a evga 5900se for $257. I know u guys knock PowerColor a lot, but maybe you could help my identify with this review; http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=Mzcz The review shows it performing just as good as the Sapphire. The one on special is the one in the picture. Can you guys give me any reasons why I shouldn't get this if the review is true?

Holy $hit yes.

In Canada that price is gold. Sure, powercolor doesn't use the highest quality components, but a 9700 PRO is a 9700 PRO. And Powercolor is pretty good about honoring the warranty.

It'll serve you better than a 9600XT, that's for damn sure. The 5900se is a good buyfor $257 Canadian (where?), but the 9700 PRO is much better.

Where did you find a 9700 PRO for that price in Canada?

Yeah that's not a bad price.

The funny thing is if BEST BUY here had sales like they do in the US at exactly the exchange rate you'd be able to get the R9800PRO for $266CDN($199US). Ba$stardz @ Best Buy!

But yeah that's not a bad deal. I have my reservations about PC, but it's ok. Just make sure it's a REAL R9700PRO, as they were originally selling alot of R9700non-pros with the PRO label. They then switched that line to R9700GOLD.

Make sure you get the right core and memory speed when you get it home, they also have a habit of underclocking their cards straight from the plant.

But even still that's a pretty good deal (cheaper than my R9600Pro).

9800pro for $199 at Best Buy huh? Sure you don't mean $299?

No I meant $199US, but I guess it was for the R9800 (not pro) and it was at Circuit City. I was just goin goff the top of my head, and thought GW had gotten a full PRO, but he appears to have bought the R9800 and then altered it into a pro.

Anywhoo, same outcome. Would be nice to get those prices HERE.
