y do so many people like intel just out of curiousity?

Because I had my experience with K6 and all its glory . At one time I was all AMD, then I saw my buds computer p2 400, which in every respect other than heat production beat my K6-2 400. So I switched. Of course I lucked out and switched when the p3 Coppermines came out about June July last year. I’m very happy with my machine it does what it needs to do and that’s the end of it. One day I am going to go dual not sure when maybe if the Itainiums are going be aimed at the home market if not dual p4 maybe even dual p3 well see how much I get back from income tax but till then ill just fill my machine with ram for the mean time 256 now, 512 I am on the way

Spud's kinda right on that point. Up until the Athlon, AMD was subpar in terms of performance. Paper launches, inferior product, unstable supporting chipsets, etc. etc. I was pretty much a staunch Intel follower until the Athlon came along and started whipping the P3.

I'm not intel fan but I agree that before the Athlon AMD sucked compared to Intel. Now the tables are reversed and its time for Intel to knuckle down and get back on top, if they want it.

Every system I have ever had was based on Intel CPU's - all the way back to the late 80's. But I am finally jumping on the AMD bandwagon, too. Until Athlon, AMD was problematic. Now Intel is having trouble - just look at RAMBUS!
