I have a coolermaster fan right now that isnt doing a good job of cooling my non-OC'd CPU, and I just bought a Dragon Orb 3, ...Now i hear that it does a terrible job of cooling even tho the fan is so powerful.... Lemme know your experences with it, Minus the loud fan... i dont find that

I just bought a DragonOrb 3 as well... havent installed it yet, let a bastard friend borrow my Artic Silver and he used it all. I have done some EXTREME case mods for my XP1800+ and am running into a hot CPU that I need to get cooler. I won one of the Extreme Performance AMD MB/CPU combos and it comes with the Retail box - so I have the "AMD Retail" fan, which just looks like a crappy version of a coolmaster HSF. Normal load is 55c with case temp at a cool 30c. Quake3 demo generates a temp of 64c!!! I am worried that my shiny new CPU will cook my breakfast for me. I am VERY curious as to why this fan "sucks" and any benchmarks if possible.

get a good heatsink.
ohh yea case fans, case fans, and more case cans.
if you dont have good air flow in your case then your heatsink will only do so much.

So I got more artic silver and installed the DragonOrb 3 I just bought and WOW! It cooled my CPU by over 15 Degrees C!! I have case fans - total 7 fans in all... and it was still hot. I have a warm 'room temperature' and that has something to do with it... but this HSF works great! Don’t know what everyone else is complaining about! - So Amy, my recommendation is use it!

BTW - if anyone is curious about the EXTREME case mods I have done, I'll have more about it on my web page soon AND at http://www.bluesmoke.net/viewGallery.php?id=case (great MOD site) very soon. A hint: XP 1800+ and a GeForce2 in an original IBM PC XT case!
