Temp sensor on graphics card?

I'm putting a CoolerMaster Aerogate 3 in my case, and I was going to use one of the sensors to monitor my graphics card temp. I've got an MSI 6600GT (AGP), and I was hoping not to remove the heatsink to do it. Can I put it on the backside of the card behind the GPU and get an accurate reading?

You don't need a seperate thermal sensor, the GF6600GT has a thermal sensor on die.

Any external sensor will be only a guesstimate of core temperature -X degreesC/F.

If you don't automatically get the sensor with your cards drivers/bios you can hack it;

And either use nVtools or Rivatuner to read the output.
