On to the issue:
Got temp spikes up to 100C on my i7-8700K, only when doing video conversions. I have some gaming captures I want to convert to smaller files and I've tried both av1 and h265, on both Shotcut and VLC. Both spike my CPU up to 100C. Once I quit the job, or it finishes, the temp goes back down to 34C.
My games only go up to the high 60s to high 70s, not often entering the low 80 on some of my more demanding games.
Why does video compression temp spike so hard?
