Temperamental card, 8 channels and stereo headsets.

Hello,

New here.

I have a Xonar Essense STX and Sennheiser PC 360. At first the card seemed not to be working and I wasn't impressed. Then suddenly, somewhat out of the blue it starts working and it is amazing! I tweaked some things in the Asus Audio Center and now it sounds phenomenal. It's a mystery why it started working (I think at some point I switched back from 10ms to 6ms after reading something on a site). If anyone can give a clue as to why it would be a help.

Anyway, what I want to know is should I go from 2 channels to 8 channels for my PC 360? Would it sound better? Worse? Hurt the headset? What? Also, how do I turn on the equalizer. It seems to turn on when it likes and then disappear just as quickly.

Might be the headphones breaking in a bit; most higher tier headphones need some time to loosen up their drivers before they really start to sound good.

The settings to activite the virtual surround on most any ASUS card are the same:
Set "Audio Channels" to 8
Enable Dolby Headphone
Enable 7.1 Virtual Speaker Shifter (optional)
