Is there a CPU stress test that backs off automatically when a user-settable core temperature is reached?
This would prevent damage while I experiment with different coolers.

OCCT will stop at 85C. Not back off but actually stop.

But really how many different coolers are you going to buy to test. Their already cooler benchmarks out.

You could just watch the PC as it's being stress-tested and click "stop" once it gets too high. No software does that explicitly, the only prevention you have is the CPU thermal throttling itself.
