I had just bought a 970 Strix, and I'm kinda paranoid because I came from a 670 and the 670 used to get hottt like 70-80 degrees while playing newer games.

I'm just wondering if it's normal for my 970 to never get hotter than 62 degrees Celsius? I have yet to see a game make it run hotter than 62 degrees, even overclocked to 1500 mhz, running witcher 3, shadow of morder etc etc..

Also, (Sorry, this one is out of topic...) I am wondering if it is normal for older games like Dawn of War 2 Retribution to not fully utilize the GPU like maybe 50-80% of it is being used... because I hear when that happens it's CPU bottlenecking... I used the Benchmark on that game and I got a minimum 6 FPS...

My build is:
i7 5820k
Rampage V Extreme
16 GB Corsair LPX Vengeance
Asus 970 Strix
Corsair AX860 PSU

Solution
If it is fps lock then it is normal to use only 50% in older games, because it only takes 50% gpu to reach 60 fps or so (depends on the fps lock) if u use v-sync then the fps is lock at same values as your monitor refresh rate. About temperature, yes it is normla, the gtx 970 is a very efficient card and runs very cold.

I usually don't lock my FPS, I don't like v-sync very much... so it goes to 100-200 FPS, at least that's what it shows on my OSD, but it still shows low amounts of GPU usage, it's even running at full speed (1509 Mhz).

Thanks for answering all my questions!
