temperature sensors

i bought a 5.25" bay temperature sensor cause my motherboards temp sensors were unreliable... read my other posts its all i bitch bout :p... but im wondering where to mount them?... 1 on the cpu of course, but where, excuse the n00bness but ive never done this before and id like to know where to mount them to get the most accurate temp readouts... tyz for teh input

I've got one of those too.. nice things. I've noticed that you'll get the most accurate readings if you just tape it on the heatsink or eqvivalent, but not somewhere the cooling fan will blow.In other words, the side of the cpu heatsink, for an example.

As for the other ones, I've got them hooked as follows: one for the CPU, one for the graphics card, one for my HD, and one freely hanging, for case temperature..

aite thanks, i think ill mount one on the heatpipe and then one on the actual heatsink to see what the diff in temps are but will that be the actual temp of the cpu or jsut the heatsink?

You'll never get the true temp of the cpu, but the temps scale well with the sink.. the readings will be off ~2-8 degrees. But you'll get a fair idea of the actual temp..
