Temperatures for i5 3570k ivy bridge - gaming

Using the stock cooler how hot should the cpu be before being an issue of damaging the cpu?

idle temps are between 32-40 C

while gaming (Civ 5, Dawn of War) it hits close to 70C

No overclocking as of yet but will upgrade the cooler once i decide to do it.

Hello DMO;

Idle temps are good.
70C~75C is still in the safe zone.
Anything above 80-85C and you'll want to figure out what's going on and probably do something about it.
