its around 23-25C idle... but when i run prime95 torture test (2nd 1 which says max temps and some ram testing) it so has reached as high as 45C (so far after 20 minutes testing) is this normal? a 20C increase from idle to load... im not sure if this is right (im using mbm 5) and one of the screws on the heatsink wont screw in fully... just nearly there but keeps turning forever... the other 3 r in tight... so could that be a problem? mm im a bit puzzled by a 20C increase... btw i got 2 front and 1 rear case fan... and a 480w antec psu which is right next to the heatsink sucking the hot air out... so can any1 help me out here?

thx

What fan are you using for your SLK900U? I don't think it should change that much because i'm using 2.4C @ 3.5ghz right now and idle temp's about 27C with load of 38C. Well I'm using the 92mm Tornado which is known for noise. Try reinstalling the heatsink and reaply the thermal grease.

I hate Computers! My P4 2.4C won't go above 3840mhz. My Sapphire 9800pro core/mem speed won't go above 490/790. I really hate computers!

dude that kind of ohk, what fan are you using?

well i reseated the heatsink and knocked off 5 degrees on prime95 load... so now its like 22C idle and 39C load... im using a 49cfm 2700rpm sunon 92mm 34.5dBa fan... i shouldve gone for the faster fans and controlled them with my fan controller... o well i can buy the fans later... but i was told that should cool enough while not being too noisy... o well so yeh... im using arctic silver ceramique too...

i got it to 200*11 at 1.675 volts and it was hitting 53C after 1 hour and 5 minutes... where then it crashed... so i upped voltage to 1.7 but havent tested it yet... at 1.65 priem95 crashes after 5 minutes.... and im gonna get faster fans... so is this a good or bad indication of how well the AQXEA barton will oc?

yeah that ohk I guess, when replacing the fan, anf if you don't mind the 35db of noise I'd say go with a Tornado if you've got the rheobus to control it ('caus stock speed its f#ckin loud)

LOL I got 1 92mm Tornado for my SLK900U and another 80mm Tornado on my Zalman heatpipe for my 9800pro.

I hate Computers! My P4 2.4C won't go above 3840mhz. My Sapphire 9800pro core/mem speed won't go above 490/790. I really hate computers!

please tell me they've been slowed down... i had one intake and one exhaust tornado and i thought i was going to kill myself - i actually would turn the comp off at night (which is a pain in the ass as most would realise) 'caus i couldn't sleep with it being about 10 feet from me. thats why watercooling rocks  .. well, that and the rock solid temps, lol

Nope I don't have fan speed control.

I hate Computers! My P4 2.4C won't go above 3840mhz. My Sapphire 9800pro core/mem speed won't go above 490/790. I really hate computers!

And true i've been forced to turn off my computer at night.

I hate Computers! My P4 2.4C won't go above 3840mhz. My Sapphire 9800pro core/mem speed won't go above 490/790. I really hate computers!

not too fun lol

Hey mike. I have a similar setup to you. 2500 barton AQXEA 0330, SLK 900u and a 55cfm 90mm fan. Currently I'm at 2335mhz on 1.68 volts. Idle temps are 46C and load is about 50C. Make sure when you take the idle temp, you let it sit in windows for 10 minutes and take the reading then. If I took my idle reading as soon as I turn the pc on, I would have 32C. My temps are higher than some, because its always hot in here with the pc on.

ok thanks, but im off to go buy some faster fans :) i got a rheobus with 4 knobs... so ill control 3 case and 1 cpu fan... well i ran 11*200 at 1.7 volts in prime95 for 5 hours... (forgot to turn alarm off on saturday so got up and set prime95 up and then went back to bed)... so it ran for 5 hours no probs... so this "extremely" stable? like how stable would u rate it? also the highest temp i hit yesterday in mbm5 was like 48C...well once i get faster fans we'll see.... also i got antec sx630II and there r 2 case fans directly in line of each ohter over the CPU fan... so i was thinking hav the CPU fan suck out and then the airflow behind it sucks it out.... while the psu fan next to the heatsink also helps out... or would blowing just be better?

The only thing faster than the one you have is an 80mm smartfan 2 @ 4,800 = 70cfm but because its smaller it isnt as good as a 92mm fan. Then theres the 92mm tornado. At 3,800rpm it wont be too noisy and will be a lot better than the 2,000-2,800rmp 92mm fans out there...

For me, I love the silence of this fan. Its 31C in here right now and the cpu temp is 47C! When it got this hot before, both my smartfans on 4,800 couldnt cool my sk7 down below 50c idle with my 2500 @ 2305mhz/1.8v. I remember my 1700 @ 2386mhz on 1.9v getting to 60c all the time lol. I am considering the tornado though, if its fairly quiet at 3,800rpm then it may do for over 2400mhz again.

speed don't ruin the tornado, it's signature is "I'm a noisy bitcI-I"

LOL. Well I put my 2 smartfans back on the 900u and it dropped temps 4c even with them on 3,000rpm. So now its ub0r quiet, fast and cool too, just 44C idle-48c load! But where to put my psu? LOL.....

hmm if u read my latest post... i got the 4 fans but the 92mm at 7 volts (minimum) is still too dam loud, i need more resistance... any ideas wat i can do? the 92mm is sunon 120cfm fan
