Temperatures

Hi

I am new to over clocking and need some advice. I am a bit worried about the temperatures. I have :
Intel Core 2 duo E8400
Asus P5N-D
3 GB DDR2 800
Seagate 500 GB SATA
GeForce 9800 GX2

What is considered as acceptable temperatures for these components?

I downloaded Speed Fan to monitor the temps, but I have no clue as to what it’s reporting on. There is about 3 fields with names like temp 1,temp 2…… Where can I find out which piece of hardware it’s referring to?

What would actually happen if the hardware overheats?

Any help would be appreciated.

Download HWMonitor it's accurate and tells what temp are what.

70C on your CPU is hot but ok, anything below and your laughing.
60-75C on your Mainboard should only occur when quads are installed or major OC.
80-95C on your gfx card is ok.

As far as I know CoreTemp only show's CPU? I am looking for one app to monitor all. I downloaded CPUID and it looks good, will have to check it tonight

For HD, keep them under 40C.
