Am going to mod case for semi-first time. Want to install lcd screen (1''X3'') to display my cpu temperture. Can anyone tell me where to start or point me in right direction?

i would mount the lcd in a drive bay if you can, if you screw up that you can easily get a replacement.

i went to the tomshardware forums and all i got was this lousy signature.

yes, just cut out a drive bay, thats what I did for my temp display <A HREF="http://www.calvsplace.cwc.net" target="_new">here</A>

If they squeeze olives to get olive oil, how do they get baby oil?

Where to put it isn't a big deal. I would like to cut a spot in my case, but that is negligable. My question is how to go about building the temperture monitor, or where I can learn how, anything about building a temperture display (i can mod it to my own situation) for an Athlon XP. Thanks

Build? Can't you just buy a Thermal Detector/Probe? I know they're not 1" by 3", but I don't know why you'd want it that big. <A HREF="http://www.crazypc.com/products/cooling/cooling.htm#thermalsensors" target="_new">CrazyPC has an Enermax one</A>. After you get that, you can <A HREF="http://www.gideontech.com/reviews/compunurse/" target="_new">mount it to your Athlon XP like this review shows here.</A>

natty,

Here's a link to a "Compunurse" thermal monitor:
<A HREF="http://www.kdcomputers.com/eui/prime/profile/250/29/component.htm" target="_new">http://www.kdcomputers.com/eui/prime/profile/250/29/component.htm</A>

KD also carried the DigitalDoc 5 (with 8 probes and fan monitors) and a "multifunction panel" that includes a monitor like the compunurse.

You can probably find these and others searching at pricewatch.com

PS: I like KD because they're close for me and so shipping is fast and cheap.
