so i built a new pc the other day, pretty high end i7 4790k gtx 780 2400mhz ram etc and ive got the new corsair h110i gt and im using the corsair link software to monitor temps and when i run a stress test (prime95) i get weird readings, so after it has run for a bit the cooler temp is about 40 degrees which is fine i know buuuut my cpu temp is around 95 degrees!!! i changed the thermal paste from the crappy stock stuff and i know i put the right amount on, the temps as im typing now are the cooler is at 30 and cpu is at 37. the cooler stays at decent temps all the time but im worried about the cpu as i really want to squeeze a decent OC out of it, any help is greatly appreciated :)

You're using Prime95 28.5 or newer and it definitely makes your CPU run very hot (several members don't even dare to run it for that reason) and it causes throttling with less powerful cooling solutions. No other application will get your CPU that hot. You shouldn't run it once overclocked; otherwise the CPU will throttle when it reaches 100°C. You could use Intel XTU to monitor the CPU as it will display temperature and throttling percentage, if any.

hi there and thankyou for your reply! my main question is that is my cpu safe at these temps? is my cooler working? is it normal for this to be happening?
