Hi.

Does anyone know of a batch file that can temporarily associate for example .txt and .doc files with Portable Notepad++ and Portable LibreOffice respectively - both of which are on my pen drive.

Thanks.

I've tried the apps, Coffee and eXpresso, but they only seem to work with double click -- I always use single click to open files and folders.

That post has a bunch of options, why not use the programs they have listed there to change the associations?

The registry key you need to modify is

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\

You can save the changes you want in a .reg file, then run that file. Note that you may need to reboot or relogon to see the changes. And make sure you backup the original values in another .reg file before making changes.

I use single click in Windows and this does not work properly with Coffee nor eXpresso. I prefer the way those apps work in that they don't tamper with the reg - something I'd rather leave be.

They probably do change the registry. Run them and check the registry see if it changed.
