Temporary Desktop Power Source

Is there a device that I can plug a surge protector to that will work as a temporary power source and help save my electronics in case of a power outage? My area has had some nasty power outages recently and I just want a way to safely turn off my computer when the power goes out or a circuit breaker trips. Being able to plug multiple electronics to it would be great. Does anyone know of such a device?

What you are looking for is a UPS. It will store power and when an outage does occur it will give you a short time to shut everything down safely.

That would be a UPS. More or less a battery backup that you could plug your machine into. Most all of them generally have surge protectors as well.
