Temporary files on SSD when copying between two external drives?

Hi,

If I have two external HDDs (one main data drive and one backup of the data drive), and am copying files between those thow, am I creating temporary files on my SSD as part of the process? I know that SSDs today are pretty robust, but I am trying to get a sense if there are read/write operations that occur on the SSD if I am only copying files between two external drives.
