[Temps] Prime95 VS. AIDA64

Hey Guys,

I have recently been over-clocking my CPU. I have a i7 4790K with a Corsair H50 Cooler.

Right now my I7 4790K Is clocked @

4.6 GHz
1.260 Volts

As of right now it seems to be stable. What I am more concerned about is when I test with Prime95 my temps are topping out at about 95C, However, when I use AIDA64 my temps top out around 79.

Is there a problem Prime95 and Haswell Chips?

No Prime95 loads down everything in a CPU at the same time it is absolute worst case scenario so it isn't unusual for Prime to have higher temps.

Well with my After market cooler, shouldn't I be getting lower temps?

Nah not with an H50 and an OC that's about right.

The newest Prime95 uses AVX extensions and that is why your system gets so hot. This is a known issue with Prime95. The AVX extensions make cpu's run about 20C hotter.

If you're worried see if it will run at a slightly low core voltage, core voltage is generally the biggest factor in heat production with Intel's recent chips.
