teredo tunneling pseudo-interface showing up in device manager ?

Hi I just found an extra device in my device manager under the Network Adapters tab usually it is just my Realtek PCIe controller there but now there is an extra device called teredo tunneling pseudo-interface I don't know how it has got there or what it is just wondering if anyone knows how it has just shown up all of a sudden and is it safe ? I am using windows 7. Thanks.

Teredo is a protocol used to interconnect an IPv4 configured device (like your PC) to an IPv6 device, you must have at some point accessed some website or server that is using IPv6 as its main setting so your OS started the Teredo interface for this.

It's simply a feature Windows has to ensure network compatibility so nothing to worry about.

And yet my teredo has been there all along but "will not start" error 10 because it's "driver is missing". So are 4 of my printers drivers which makes no sense because I spend more time in HP's site with Full download of all drivers then I do living life...Interestingly, Microsoft.com cannot figure out how to address the missing driver problem. And because of the teredo missing driver problems, my printer will not print wirelessly although the icon's on the monitor suggest otherwise. Time for a Mac, I'm fed up with frustrating PC issues that are never resolved no matter how minor or how major they are or become or will become ad infinitim (sp?)

Sounds like your wireless driver is missing Bostonholly, if there's no physical network interface properly configured then the Teredo (being a virtual interface) won't be able to work, and obviously your wireless printers won't be able to connect either.

Thank you , it sure sounds that way. I (hope springs eternal aka the definition of insanity...) went to HP again today after visiting Microsoft again yesterday and their suggestion was to uninstall any device drivers which simply were not working including won't start and stated that when windows reboots the drivers, if necessary, will automatically install because I should certainly be able to surmise that if the [fill in the blanks] "wont start", that they clearly exist. Hopefully, this will resolve things. If not, I should certainly be able to surmise that it's also why God invented Ethernet, USB and HDMI cables (oh wait, my PC didn't come with HDMI ports). If all else fails I will just yell up to the printer what I need it to print using the tin cans and string connecting us.
