Hello,
Can someone tell me how does Microsoft Access 2000
licensing working in Terminal servers?

We have 4 servers in our corporate center, and average 6
computers per location in the remote locations, and they
are running different applications through citrix
published application. I heard Microsoft office is
licensed based on the end devices connected to the
terminal server, however, even if there are six PCs per
location connected to this server farm, only users on one
of the PC can run Access 2000 application. The other 5 PCs
do not have application published so they con not launch
Access in any terminal server. Does this mean we have to
pay license for 6 PCs or 1 PC?
Any comment will be appreciated.
Jim.

Office 2000 is licensed per device, so if Access can only be used
from one client, you need only one license.

Thanks that is very helpful. One more question, the users
are not actually using Access to make some development, so
they will be running an Access Aplication. Can I install
run time version in terminal servers and do not get any
license? Is there any microsoft site that talks about this.

Yes, if the users run an application that comes with its own
runtime version of Access, then you don't need Access at all, and
hence no licenses either. If that's the case, I would actually not
*install* Access at all.

I have no link for you, but I know that it is stated somewhere on
the developers pages at MSDN that runtime versions may be
distributed freely.
Try an Office or Access newsgroup if you need more specifics.

Thanks, that is good news. My application has form/report
user interface and link tables to another access database
in the same terminal server. I do not know much about run
time access but if I have run time access installed in my
terminal server, will they still be run forms/report
application and accessing tables in another mdb file
through links.
Thanks,
Jim.

I can't help you with this, I have only a *very* basic
understanding of what Access applications are (and I tend to hate
them 🙂
Try an Access newsgroup for this.
