Hi,

For a long period my terminalserver has worked fine(Win2000 server). I
connect through a VPN-tunnel and I use "Remote desktop" in WinXP Prof to
access the server.

Recently the terminalserver hang when I logon. After I put in my username
and pasword and press down the "log in" butten, the terminalserver is
freezing. This happens for every remote users. The only way so far is to
reboot the server. Then it works fine some days and the problem is back.

It did not happend after an update or something so far i can see.

Note: The server works fine for local Domain users. It's only the
Terminalserver that stops working.

Is it a diagnostic tool I can use for Terminalserver?

Any hints would be much appreciated.

(Sorry for my bad English)

Thanks,
Spoon

I have the very same problem here. I posted a query in this very
newsgroup but did not receive any answer.

So far, what I have seen is:

1/ Nothing is posted in the event log except Event 9006 source
TermService. This looks much more a consequence than a cause.

The problem happens once a week, approximately, making it very hard to
track.

Users already connected to the TS will be affected as well.

The server is a HP DL-380 with two processors and 1.5 gigabytes of
memory. The server is running Windows 2000 SP3 with all current patches
(except the SP4 itself). The users are on a windows 2000 Active
directory. Everything worked just fine for about 3 years until the
problem apeared recently. I think it was some time after the April
Update but I could be wrong.

Just as you, the local console is working just fine and the server
seems in perfect shape from that point of view. However, no user can
sucessfully connect to the terminal service after that.

In the hope of better understanding the error, could you possibly check
if there is any similarities between our two setups and if the symtpoms
are the same for you and me ?

Thanks,
Stephane
