im building a gaming pc. i only have one component right now which is then new gtx 960 ssc. i wanna see if it worked and my friend is the only one i know who has a pc that they dont use that i can test it out on. the problem is is that i dont really know what is wrong with that pc because it gets a lot of blue screens and crashes all the time when i tried to use it a while ago. do you think itll still be safe to plug in my gpu real quick and see if it works??

thanks

I would not take the chance with a brand new card, you do not know what is causing that computer BSOD, and it could be unstable or spiking PSU power issues that could possibly mess up your card.

oh ok your right. i just needa try and test it out because when i unboxed it it was in the plastic clear box that looked like this

while it was in the plastic clear box i set that on carpet for a minute. i just got worried cause idk if it got shocked while it was in that clear box..

As long as it was in the plastic box, it should not have gotten any static shock.

i moved to the kitchen floor and then took it out of the box then held it by the sides and stuff. then when i was finished i just put it back in the box

yeah i really dont wanna stand on cardboard but i might just actually stand on the carpet with the anti static band. does it get in the way?? and i thought u had to like clip it on a power supply that was plugged in but turned off?.?.

I have my static strap on my ankle. It is out of the way so I can work. The recommend way is to clip it onto the PSU and plug the PSU in, but I just clip it to the case. Touch the case a lot more if you are going to build on carpet. Also, since you are working on carpet, hold the mobo and gpu by the sides.

so u have urs on ur ankle?? is it clipped onto the case or are u just sitting down lol

lol im probably just gonna stand on the carpet and build on a table cause knowing me i would place down my unboxed components on carpet
