Tested a different PC with my own monitor and now my monitor won't recognize my own PC's signal

One of the computers in my household (call it computer A) randomly stopped outputting a signal to its monitor (monitor A) this morning, even though it was working last night before it was shut down. Monitor A's dispay is still working because it shows a "no signal" message. Monitor A is VGA and was connected to computer A's DVI port with an VGA/DVI adapter.

After checking connections and power, I unplugged a working monitor (monitor B, which is a TV) from my own PC (PC B), which uses an HDMI port, and plugged it into PC A's HDMI port for testing. I'm not 100% positive that PC A is capable of outputting an HDMI signal but I thought it was worth a try. Monitor B also didn't get a signal from PC A, so I reconnected monitor B to PC B's HDMI port.

But now monitor B isn't getting a signal from PC B either. I've cycled the signal source on the TV's menu (display is still working, just not getting a signal), restarted PC B with and without the monitor B plugged in, and powered everything off and unplugged it all. I've also tried connecting monitor A to PC B (by way of PC B's DVI port) to make sure PC B didn't decide to ouput to DVI for some reason, but monitor A is also not getting a signal.

I can't see the computers' menus to fiddle with any settings, and I'm at a loss. I couldn't find any forum posts from users with exactly the same problem. Any ideas on something else I can try?

Okay, thank you. I'll try leaving it unplugged for a little longer. I don't think I left it for 2 minutes before.

Edit: Still not working. 🙁 But thank you for the suggestion!

do the different pc's use different cables?
