Testing and a few questions on TR1

I posted something a couple of days ago and nothing showed on my screen so
one, I'm testing the connection/server and two, if this gets through, I
would like to know how what I should do to be able to play TR 1 on XP. I'm
changed some settings using the MS Help feature so that when I play TR2, I
can advance beyond the first level. However, only faded lines appear on the
screen when I did the same for TR1.

Also, does anyone reckon if Core will replace my TRL disc 'cos since I
bought it a few years ago, I've not been able to install it. Since it came
as a bundle package with the first 3 (The Ultimate Tomb Raider Collection)
and hence the games were bought cheap, I let it at that and put the problem
as my PC's fault. Now I know better since I've tried it on a newer set of
desktop (Win98) and my laptop (XP) and nothing runs when I insert the TRL
disc. I've been thinking recently that I should just mail the disc (and
perhaps even a return envelope) since the disc is pretty useless on the
casing anyway and see what they will do.

By the way, I've been gone for quite a while and am surprised to see that
it's so quiet here... must be tired after the tirades over AOD. 😛

Hi there! :)

Just letting you know that at least one person sees this post. However, I do
not see any others in here from "Winnie Y".

I'm sure someone will come along soon to help resolve your questions.

Good luck!

Hi there,

I was surprised to see that when I took TR1 from the shelf after two
years, and after having installed XP-pro, the game would auto-start
and just run! Unfortunately without in-game FMV... But this problem I
also have with TR2, that I am currently playing.

So, as to your question: I did nothing to make it run. It just did.
Maybe you could try and set 'compatibility' to WIN98 and turn of
advanced text settings and things like that. Or even try 265 colors
640x480 first.

If nothing works, try a combination of TR 1 with VDM-sound and/or
Glidos. Then get the Advanced TR1 Install programm that you can get
from various sites - tombraiderchronicles for example.

Let me know if this helps...

Ronald
