Plugged in psu to system - nothing turns on, not even any LEDS or post messages on the motherboard.

There is a buzzing in the PSU.

PSU fan does not turn on unless there is a significant load.

I've been trying to do the paperclip test but I'm not sure how to connect the fan to just the psu? Is there a converter?

big psu switch right on the corsair rm 1000 ... when it's plugged in (even in the 0 off state) there is buzzing.

tried flipping the big psu switch to 1 on but nothing is turning on.

Haven't connected case peripherals yet, if you're wondering - just testing cpu + ram + board - no lights, nothing

Amazon prime now'd a evga supernova 750...

Corsair RM1000 was defective.

n.b. EVGA comes with its own psu testing thing - much less ghetto than corsair's paperclip psu testing method
