Trying to test out a questionable GTX 980ti with the only PC I currently have with even close to enough PSU power. The PSU is an Antec earthwatts EA 500 green 80 plus bronze continuous power. There are 3 12v rails. 12v1 32A, 12v2 32A, and 12v3 0.5A. It shows maximum load on rails 12 1, and 12 2 as 492W.

It has 2 8 pin Pci-e connections, but both are coming from the same wire as this is a non-modular unit.

PC is a Lenovo H430 core i3 2120 with 16gb of ram.

Single DVD drive

Single 3.5 HDD

Will there be any harm to at least testing the 980ti with this set-up?

Thank you

I don't think there would be going to any harm or risk if you just want to check whether the GPU is working or not, per se, after a system reboot. Is that ANTEC PSU model at least working perfectly now, since that's a pretty old model though ? Have you used it recently ? This is important.

Just don't stress test the GPU with this PSU though for a long period.

You're probably OK, but I wouldn't put a load on it.

Thank you very much for the input. I just plan on turning on PC with old card and driver's removed, installing drivers for the GTX 980ti and see if it will actually work or not. I just wanted to make sure that by just trying I would not damage anything.
