Testing mobo for first time, should I install the stock cooler?

Hey everyone,

I'm new to building a PC and will be testing the new motherboard for the first time and wanted to know if I should use the stock cooler for the cpu only for initial test and then switch to my after market water cooling after a successful post. I don't mind the extra work of changing out the cooler after testing I just want to know if it's acceptable considering I don't want to fill water in my reservoir outside of the case.
