I just buit my own custom system and was wondering if anyone has a recomendation for a good program to test it's stability? I haven't OC anything yet, but I was to make sure I don't have any hardware problems.

Are there are programs (and guides) that could be recommended?

Also I bout evga 7900 gt OC video card. I heard that there have been some problems with it? Can I test it some how?

Thanks.

Prime 95 is considered to be the best stability testing app.

For overall system stability, temp testing-

For Non-OS based RAM stabiity testing-

Thanks GL,

Are these program realitively easy to use? I have never ran a stability test before.

Is there any risk in damaging your hardware with these programs?

Thanks

Memtest isn't going to damage your ram, it'll just show errors if the RAM is faulty, or overclocked too far/undervolted(run 1 stick at a time so you know, if one is bad, which one it is). Prime could conceivable cause damage(i guess) if you have a component that is unstable, ready to die, etc, but if that's the case...wouldn't you rather the part go when you're testing it and know about it, rather than in the middle of something important and not know what it is? If something is unstable/faulty, Prime will cause an error and stop immediately and say
"error". So i consider stress testing to be very safe, and a good idea even if not overclocking. It is a good way to "burn-in" new hardware also.
