Is it possible to use usb hotspot with desktop that does not have bluetooth or network adapter only ethernet connection?

Do you mean a USB Wireless dongle plugged into a desktop case?

That is no different from a laptop with built in wireless networking from the point of connecting to a ipad or iphone wireless hotspot.

How fast connection is depends on the iphone getting a good signal and if 3G or 4G

Yes i mean the usb dongle, however my computer does not have wireless adapter so it cannot connect to wifi only ethernet will the hotspot still work?
Laptop's come with built in network adapters so it is different..

It does not matter if wireless networking device is internal (PCI or PCI-e) or external ( USB)

The hot spot is created by the iPhone or smart phone and the other device (laptop or desktop) connects to the hot spot on the phone
