So right now I am game streaming to my tablet via WiFi hotspot on Verizon's LTE network, 40mb down 6mb up. My phone is a motorola maxx. The problem I am having is I'm getting lag when playing games that shouldn't be happening. I know they say u need a 5ghz router but that isn't possible with my setup when away from home. Is their a product I could buy to help fix this issue? I tried a micro USB to USB to micro USB adapter but the phone would tether correctly for whatever reason. Any help would be appreciated since I use my tablet away from home very often!

Solution
Tethering is very old school and was dropped with the ability to hotspot. Also the Shield Tablet is a customized OS of Linux, you would need specialized drivers SPECIFIC to the tethering functions and recognize the Motorola maxx (NOT A OPTION).

The reason you need a 5GHz router is to use the 802.11n signal properly with no hinderance (aka lag) in the wireless signal, means YOU NEED a 5GHz signal only as the Wifi Hotspot your Verizon is kicking off. Also CELL PHONE SERVICE SUCKS FOR GAMING, too many HOPS (more lag) and the signal is constantly checked (polled for activity - more lag) for activity so it can attend to all the other Cell Phones also trying to connect to that ONE tower. Forget when it gets to be busy traffic times, then...

Forget when it gets to be busy traffic times, then everyone is on the SAME TOWER and your performance drops. LASTLY, you are LIMITED (Check the TOS on your LTE network contract) on speed and bandwidth on a 'ON DEMAND" status. If your pulling too much they will drop your connection or LIMIT IT (down from 4G to 2x or 1x cell service) to ensure your not hosing ALL the other customers.

Yeah I get you have no other options, well either GET to a hotspot where it is your trying to play (Starbucks, McDonalds, the Library) or stick to games playable offline on it.

Solution
Well for the most part I haven't had to much playing games over the network. Games like world of tanks and hearthstone on the android market side work great over LTE. But I have been trying to play transistor through steam via game stream and it has been running poorly. Dragon age inquisition runs surprisingly well with my phone. As far as them throttling me for excessive use, I mainly use my tablet after 7pm and on average use 60gb plus... Still no throttle surprisingly. Thanks for the information is was very informative but I still wanna pursue anything that can better my connection if I can help it
