Hi. I have an Optronix OP-9005LSB TFT that only has a VGA D-sub socket but it is DVI-D compatible. If i upgrade my graphics card from VGA to DVI-D would the TFT run in digital mode with a DVI-to-VGA converter to improve picture quality or will the quality remain the same. thank you in advance.peterlb

does the monitor not have a DVI connector? if it doesnt how is it DVI compatible? you have NOWHERE to plug in DVI and therefore ISNT DVI compatible.

thnx for you reply mpasternak . The Optronix TFT instruction booklet refers to a DVI-D mode as well as a VGA mode but there is no DVI port on the monitor. So i was assuming both modes were available through the VGA d-SUB port on the monitor. I am now wondering if the instruction booklet is a general one to cover all Optronix TFT models whether they have a DVI port or not. thnx again . peterlb

sOUNDS like it's just a general book.

DVI requires a special DVI connection. your standard d-sub is only an analogue signal being sent to the monitor.

DVI is a two way data connection that sends a digital signal as well receives operating information from the displa. all this data requires more information. DVI is it

you are right . mpasternak. The manual is obviously meant for Optronix TFTs in general. The picture quality is good though, with VGA. But you are always trying to get the best out of your equipment if you can. I do appreciate your input. Thnx
