For the total lack of response to my CCTV post up there ^^^

I guess that means no-one on here has a clue what they're talking
about, or they would have offered some sort of response, eh?

Plenty fo CCTV stuff on the net. Learn how to use google. Vague
questions like yours usually don't generate much of a response as
you obviously haven't done any prior research for yourself. Have
a nice day!

Most webcams can be set up to do what you want, however, they work very
poorly or not at all in dark conditions. If you need to monitor and
record overnight then a traditional cctv with infra red capabilities is
the way to go, which may also entail mounting it all outside the window,
not inside, to avoid reflections.

Webcams work well during daylight hours, unless pointed directly into
the sun/light sky but use of an old pair of sunglasses can help with
that to some extent.

There is software online that you can use if the supplied stuff isn't up
to it, but it's not easy to find good free stuff.

You didn't mention if you want to record incidents manually, try and do
it automatically, or monitor remotely, etc etc. All things that need to
be thought about.
