So I've been working on builds to see which one I like best. My intention is 3D Modeling (and hopefully, to do more complex scenes and to later include animation) as well as gaming all the latest titles at Ultra setting and to be able to support 2-3 clients of EVE Online comfortably. Well, I've hit a snag. Do I need a 2011-3 or a 1150?

EDIT: Answered my own question, didn't Google before I asked, so happily ignore this lol. What I learned, for other curious souls...2011 for 6+ core processors, 64gb of RAM, and/or 40+ PCIe lanes. 1150 if you don't need any of these...

I guess it all depends of your budget. If you do ALLOT of editing and INTENSIVE editing, then definetely 2011-3. While something like the 5820k is a 6 core with 12 threads and is cheap, the DDR4 ram is quite... expensive now. Yes, the maximum 1150 RAM amount is 32gb. And PCIe lanes depend on the cpu. I know the 5820k only supports 28 pcie lanes, but the 5930 and 5960. So just go with what the main purpose of the rig will be and how much you're willing to spend.
