Hey guys, my +4 pin connector won't go into my motherboard... I'm not talking about the CPU power connector, it's the motherboard power connector. The 20 pin goes in without problem, but I can't seem to get my +4 in there... Despite this, however, my computer still functions perfectly, and I am writing this question on it. It would be helpful to add that it goes in but doesn't lock into place... even though my PC functions properly, I am still a bit worries about it malfunctioning on me... Should I be worried? Thanks! You can't get the 20 pin out? Seriously? I'm glad it works, but that's not sustainable, at some point you're going to want that out.

You know how the little latch works on those cables? You squeeze the top and it pivots the latch allowing you to pull the cable out?
I've found in the past that you often can't get the two plugs in separately. So if you're starting with the 20pin connected, you can't then add the 4 pin properly. Instead you assemble the 20 pin and 4 pins together prior to plugging them in. Usually there are tiny latches on the connector that sit flush together and, once you plug in the entire 24 pin cable all at once, that will lock the 4 pin in place and prevent it coming out.

The extra 4 pins provide additional 12V lines, so you do want them.

Of what exactly? How it doesn't go in but my pc turns on? Or of it not going in? Or something completely different, thanks!

So are you saying I have to take out my 20 pin connector as well? Do I have to plug them in at the same time? Thanks!

Yes, I believe so. I'm not sure if they're all identical, but certainly some I have used previously have the little notches which are designed to hold the 4 pin in place, but it also prevents you plugging the in 4 pin properly after the 20pin is in. I suspect that's your issue. Hold them together to make a single 24 pin and it should go in just fine.
