Based off a ton of reviews and a whole bunch of user feedback, plus past experiences with these brands, I like the ASUS Strix and the EVGA card followed closely by the MSI. As of right now, none of them seem to really have many problems aside from the scattered reports of coil whine, and those seem to actually be fairly limited. After most new series releases there is usually a gang of issues that immediately surface, but this release has been relatively trouble free so I'd say go with whichever card you like best.

If I was buying one today, I'd probably opt for the EVGA.

Wherever you go, somebody is going to have a different opinion of which card is better, mainly based on personal preference. The folks that write those reviews are not unbiased, any more than the rest of us are. No review I've read has recommended NOT buying any of these cards and the bit-tech article indicates the EVGA is the fastest card, out of the box. They also say they would recommend any of them. So once again, go with what you like or need.

They are all powerful. Do you need the most possible performance? Looking for the quietest card? Just want to get a good card and save a few bucks? Base you decision off those factors and you'll end up with the card that's right for you.

If you looking for the best card, i honestly think gigabyte g1 are the one. Many expert are agreeing with this fact too. Nice backplate, cool look, attractive led, solid build, got one of highest stock oc and oc capability. MSI come for 2nd and asus strix for 3rd. But you'll never go wrong with any of these card. Not sure for evga. Heard some issue with them but not sure they already fix the prob or not.

MSI GTX 970 Gold Edition has a backplate as well

The Galax exoc deserves a mention IMO.
I took one as a replacement for a MSI gaming 970 with a clicking fan.
The Galax is a superior card in build quality by far - aluminium shroud ,4mm steel backplate which also acts as a heatsink for the vrm's.
Looking at benches it keeps up/or surpasses both the strix & the g1.
I've pulled a stable 220mhz over clock with this card just for the sake of it with virtually a 5c temp rise (max of 72c in heaven benchmark)

I took my chance after I saw Galaxy and KFA2 united the brand to Galax.
Galax GTX970 EX OC looks nice, relative cheaper than any other brands.
I took my chance since I see that the new brand needs some reputation building and they do not want to disappoint too many.
The card has been on my hand since October 12th., and I saw no problems at all. (I know it is still kind of early)

Ok I have two of these cards, so wanted to give an opinion and then ask a quick question.
-Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
-EVGA 970 ACX 2.0 FTW
I'll break both these down and then ask for some thoughts...
EVGA FTW- PROS: Small and Awesome, if small is what you need. I've had it for about a month now (upgraded from MSI 770 4g) and have it running in a SFF case (Silverstone SG02, ASRock z87M mobo, I-5 4670K, etc). The whole deciding factor on this card was size to performance. This is a small build PC that sits on a shelf in a 4 post rack in my media room. The old MSI 770 4g was actually a little too tall for a perfect fit, and this card being a few mm shorter in height has me seriously smiling. The Fans can idle at zero which is nice for watching movies etc, and are quieter than any GPU I've had, and honestly I can't even hear them above the Silverstone NT-06 cpu fan. And this this thing is a beast of a performer right out of the box; the factory overclock is excellent. It kills Assassin's creed unity pretty much maxed out at 1080p and anything else I've played. Worth the $40 premium....
CONS: my opinion, Meh on the looks of the card (not an issue for me, I'm not showing this build off anyway). You probably won't be able to overclock this card too much further.
Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming- PROs- Better cooler, higher binned chips, better VRMs, higher overclocking potential than most of the other cards you're looking at. I like the looks; bought this for my main gaming rig (ASUS vii z97 hero, I-7 4690k). I've only had this a few days but it is excellent, performance and noise wise. Over these two cards, go with this one if you have the room in your case. Better value I think than the FTW.
CONS: really long and won't fit in many mATX, ITX builds.

Ok, now want to ask for some thoughts.... I was planning on ordering a second Gigabyte G1 970 to SLI, but am really torn on that or returning the one I have and ordering 2 MSI 970 Golden Editions. I think the MSI looks are insane and seems like they do have very high OC potential. Plus they're in stock right now on NE. need to decide quick!
thanks!
