The Best PC Specs for 3d Modeling and rendering

Hi All,

I will be getting a new PC built, and it will primairly be used for 3d modeling, sculpting and rendering.
I am looking for any advice to get the best spec possible. If i have missed something crucial please let me know.
Also i would like to have the option to have more graphic cards and ram at a later date and the pc will have graphic tablets
connected to it.

Since you want the best possible for 3d work I suggest the Quadro k4000 if u will be working with large scene or high poly objects, particles, etc. The k4000 will give you far better viewport performance than gtx 780. An alternative to quadro k4000 is the Firepro w7000 if CUDA or GPU rendering is not important to you. However, you can go for the gtx 780 if your work is not heavy, also it will give you better GPU rendering performance than the k4000 due to higher clock and more CUDA cores, but dont leave it rendering for long hours, gtx is not built with stability in mind. The gtx 780 will give you superior performance in gaming though.
32Gbs of RAM is a bit overkill for 3D modeling, but if you will be doing video editing that will help, otherwise go for 16Gbs.

You need a workstation with CPU like 3930K (6 cores) as a single CPU system or a dual xeon CPU system (a bit overkill). 32 GB RAM is the minimum especially if you will do fluid simulations or animations.
For GPU just choose the new GTX 780 with 6GB RAM. The 6GB GPU RAM will be good for GPU rendering too.
If you will do bigger and more complex scenes and animations then you have to use the CPU for rendering with min. 32GB RAM .
There are many companies with appropriate render farms (CPU rendering) who offering services.
Or you can build one render farm for your self too or buying one from companies who offer small render farms. For example : http://www.3drenderfarm.com , just use the Google and search for "3d render farms".
