Hello, I want to build a new PC for 1600$
All im looking for in this PC is that it will squeeze any last frame it can with this budget
Im NOT going to do any upgrades ever! (maybe add a stick of ram in 5-7 years)
Im going to play all triple A games on a 2K 144Hz display
im not a streamer or anything
what do you recommend?

That close enough or do I need to get it UNDER 1600?

Solution

The RTX2070 won't push 144hz at 1440p. You really need a 2080/ti for that, and even then there will be drops below 144 in games like BF1/BF V.

Then fit a 2080 in the build ;) lol

Also for future reference the 3200 cl 14 kits work a good bit better for ryzen.

Haha! Yeah, maybe!

I was gonna go for the CL14, but for $30 extra, it's not worth it IMO.

edit: also CL has very little impact on actual gaming performance, perhaps 1-5 fps (approx <5% performance increase). It's much more about the speeds of the ram, and how that impacts the Infinity Fabric. Going from 2400mhz to 3200 will have an increase of up to 20% in gaming FPS. Going from CL16 to 14 might yield a 1-5% increase (at 3200 speeds) if you are lucky.

just for future reference ;)

i see.. can you show me an amd build?
best for the dollar
no more than 1600

Well, Ryzen does not NEED 3000mhz ram to 'function properly'. It 'functions' just fine with 2400/2666/2733/2800/2933. I think you mean Ryzen will have a performance increase with faster ram. Mostly that increase comes between 2400-2933mhz. After that the effects of faster ram taper off. Going with 3200 over 3000 as an example yields almost no performance increase, sometimes just 1-2% Between 2400 and 2933 the increase can be as much as 20%, game dependent.

I'd agree though, Intel doesn't need super fast ram to perform exactly as you would expect. Not so for Ryzen.

Swap out the A400 SSD for something with faster write speeds. An EVO 860 will be much better and worth the extra few quid.

:) I know, it's give and take on those builds. There's a trade off somewhere! Solid build to get the 9700k in there. Top FPS. The EVO will compliment it further. The A400 isn't bad at all, and is a great value SSD IMO, just the write speeds can be low.

You can add an HDD later. Prioritize a larger SSD for the system drive and a x470 motherboard for better power delivery to the 2700x:
