Which brand of the R9 290X is the best? I'm building a 4k rig and i need to do crossfire(i heard AMD graphics are better at 4k than nvidia). My max spending is 1000$ for two GPU's. I'm currently intrested in these:
1. ASUS Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II 4GB
2. ASUS Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II OC 4GB
3. MSI Radeon R9 290X Gaming 4GB
4. MSI Radeon R9 290X Gaming 8GB
5. Gigabyte Radeon R9 290X Windforce 3X OC 4GB
6. XFX Radeon R9 290X DoubleDissipation 8GB
I think 4. and 6. ones are the best for 4k since it has got 8GB (keep in mind i am going to crossfire two same cards). What do you think?
Thanks!

Not sure who told you AMD does 4k better...but they LIED.

The higher the resolution the more important the Vram available is. I am not sure in dollar prices how much the 980 is, however I am confident you can get two 970's with spare change left.

They are the superior card and will outperform dual 290x's in 4K in most applications.

The 290x beats the GTX 970 in high resolutions.

And the best 290x is made by Sapphire. I am an Asus fanboy, but Sapphire surpassed all, Asus included, with their 290x edition.

And of course - the ultimate 8 GB edition

"On the other side of the coin, Sapphire's Vapor-X R9 290X 8GB is probably the best sub-$550 card you can buy for gaming on a 4K monitor." - By Don Woligroski, Tom's Hardware

Whoever is blabbering about GTX 970 and 4K - just drop it. It - does - not - compute. 290/290x is superior.

u wont need 8GB thats first second if u want 4K 60FPS with high settings than wait until Jun AMD should come out with the R9 380X or 390X

if u want 4k the best thing u can do now is get a GTX980 in crossfire and Overclock the memory

if u insist on the R9 290X than just get The sapphire tri-X/Toxic tri-X/Vapor-X tri-X are the best R9 290X out there they have very good VRM cooling

however Hawaii eats a ton of Power so IMO not really worth it just wait until AMD comes out with their new cards which are geared towards 4K gaming

Out of 6 games tested the SLI GTX970 only got 1 win. 2 x 290x, and the 295 got the other 5 wins. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_970_sli_review,21.html

GTX980 Sli actually only matches or just barely beats a r9 295 or crossfire r9 290x. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_980_sli_review,22.html

PS: Video ram does not double in dual card configurations, so getting an 8gb card for the first slot is a good idea if you want higher settings without running out of video ram. Dying light is already pushing over 3gb usage at 1080p, so soon 4gb cards may not even be enough anymore if this trend continues. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/dying_light_vga_graphics_performance_review,9.html
