Hello,

I am trying to set up a network for a residential building, it has 5 floors, so we would like it to have 5 routers each with their own WiFi access point so that the users on that floor can connect to it also there is a DVR for security cameras. We have a single "wire" from our ISP with a static IP address. What would be the best way to distribute and connect this many routers on a single network so we can keep it as safe and stable as possible? Should we use a single switch and have each router on its own port? Or should we look into other options?

At the moment we have a mix of Edimax and TP-Link routers, they are in a weird broken configuration that regularly falls apart and starts working again, we dont mind in investing into new equipment as long as it works properly.

I understand that this question might seem very noobish and might not even make sense, but I am happy to hear any answers or opinions on how this thing should be done.

Thanks in advance!

One word--ubiquiti. Their products just work when put together and allow you to manage it well, such as a separate vlan for the dvr and cameras.

You don't need 5 routers for this too, but just 5 access points and the dream machine and a maybe switch. Someone here that has a pretty extensive home setup (might as well have been a business office) just got a full setup with the dream machine and was very, very happy.
