Question The bottleneck to end all bottlenecks.

Hey all,

I've had an old system for some time (GTX 950, i5 2400, etc), but was recently given a second hand GTX 2060 from a mate who just did a complete overhaul.

He has a lot more money than I, and as such, I cannot afford to upgrade the CPU/MTB at the moment.

I'm just wondering, if I was to try and use the 2400 with the 2600, would it be feasible on lower-mid settings for new/AAA games?

Also, what would be a good CPU to pair with it, once I do have enough cash.

You can do high/ultra settings. what will be the limit is how many frames can your CPU tell your GPU to draw, so it can look gorgeous at 45fps for instance.

Your CPU will bottleneck your GPU heavily, so that GPU will eventually die from waiting for commands from CPU

It must be RTX 2060 and not GTX 2060, if so it's a capable 1440p card and needs a 6 core CPU as minimum in today's standard.

i5 9400/Ryzen 2600x would be a decent upgrade.

i5 9600K & 2700X would be the ideal upgrade.

It would need one to get the most out of it,is what he probably means.
Just as 13thmonkey said just crank the quality and resolution up as much as possible and enjoy the super nice graphics at whatever FPS the 2400 is capable of providing.

Pretty sure a 6700k and 7700k would handle a 2060 just as well as a Ryzen 1600 or 2600.

Exactly, I think 4c/8t is still fine for now.
